At CrossFit Influence, we celebrate transformation — but not just the before-and-after kind.

We celebrate the in-between.

Because real progress? It doesn’t always come in neat, picture-perfect packages. Sometimes it looks like a messy middle — showing up when you don’t feel like it, modifying a workout instead of skipping it, or passing up cake at the office three days in a row. It looks like choosing the stairs when you’re tired or walking into the gym when your brain is trying to talk you out of it.

Progress isn’t always visible… but it’s always valuable.

We see it all the time: someone like Nancy, who came in unsure if she even belonged here, now moving confidently and pain-free. Or a nutrition client who couldn’t imagine a week without cravings, now focused on how their body feels instead of what the scale says. Or the member who said, “I don’t run,” lacing up their shoes and joining the group anyway — even if it wasn’t fast or pretty.

These moments are progress.

They don’t always get loud applause or post-worthy photos, but they’re the foundation of lasting change.

Why progress isn’t linear (and why that’s good)

It’s tempting to think progress should follow a straight line:
Day 1 ➝ Consistent action ➝ Visible results ➝ Success.

But life isn’t that clean. You’ll have high-energy days and low-motivation days. You’ll hit a PR and then hit a wall. And guess what? That’s normal. That’s human.

Progress is more like a staircase than a runway. You take steps forward, pause, maybe slip back, and then climb again. Every step counts.

Real progress looks like this:

We call these bright spots, and we look for them every week in our community.

You’re not starting over — you’re starting from experience.

Setbacks will come. A rough week, an off meal, a missed workout. That doesn’t mean you failed. It just means you’re human. The key is to keep showing up — imperfectly, consistently, and with the understanding that every effort still counts.

As we say often at CrossFit Influence:

“Progress over perfection”

You’re building discipline. Grit. Health. Confidence. And those aren’t things that show up overnight — they’re earned, one imperfect step at a time.

Your Journey, Your Pace, Your Progress

So the next time you feel stuck or like you “should” be further along, pause and reflect:

Then you’re progressing — even if it’s not in a straight line.

Let’s stop waiting for perfect. Let’s celebrate progress exactly as it is: real, messy, and worth every step.
