Andrea Henry, 37, joined CrossFit Influence in October of 2023, after seeing a friend from school post consistently about the gym. Curious and craving change, she decided to give it a shot during Bring a Friend Week, and that one step led to a transformation that went far beyond fitness.
Before stepping into CFI, Andrea had been trying to make home workouts stick using an app. But with limited space and equipment, nothing clicked. “Fitness-wise, I was attempting to work out at home… but it just wasn’t working. Nutrition was not great, I was eating and drinking anything and not paying too much attention.”
She was stuck in a rut, physically and emotionally. “I was just tired of everything, tired of being tired, overweight, clothes not fitting. I was definitely struggling to take the weight off after my second kid.”
Her goal when she walked into CrossFit Influence? “I hoped for energy and motivation to lose weight and inches. I also wanted to be better about paying attention to what I eat and drink.”
What Andrea found was more than a workout, it was a support system.
“The gym and staff are basically like an extended family. Everyone is there to support and motivate you to be the best that you can be. The coaches are amazing at proper form, scaling options, and so much more.”
Even when Andrea was recovering from a pinched nerve and later surgery, the coaching staff stepped in without hesitation. “When I wasn’t able to [power through], the coaches were ALWAYS there to assist with scaled options so I could finish the workout. I eventually had no choice but to have surgery, and Jeremiah was great at checking in and seeing how I was doing.”
That accountability made a huge difference. “If I miss too many workouts, Jeremiah is there with a text asking me where I’ve been. Personally, I need that. My job can be stressful at times, and sometimes I let it win. The check-in from Jeremiah helps me bring myself back to the front and being priority.”
Andrea also made major mindset shifts that helped her make real progress. “That I needed a goal. So currently I’m trying to get to the gym at least 4x per week, but no less than 3x per week. It’s still challenging sometimes, but I feel like I’m doing better this year than I did last year.”
She’s also improved her nutrition habits. “Paying more attention to what I’m eating and how much has been beneficial, as well as my water intake, which was virtually non-existent unless I was coming to the gym.”
The results? Tangible. Powerful. Life-changing.
“I feel like the lifestyle change is really the biggest result I have achieved. Before starting at CrossFit, I struggled with a consistent exercise program because I just didn’t enjoy what I was doing. I also didn’t have anyone to hold me accountable other than myself. Since starting, I actually want to go work out on a consistent basis.”
“I don’t know that I’ve necessarily lost any weight… but I feel like I’ve definitely made some strength gains, which is super important. I’ve got two very active boys. I’ve got to be able to keep up with them.”
And that shift is showing up everywhere. “I feel like I have more patience and better stamina to keep up with them in the long run. My relationship with food is better… I’m trying to eat more smaller meals throughout the day, which has helped my energy levels tremendously.”
If you’re wondering if CrossFit Influence might be right for you, Andrea has one thing to say:
“Just do it!! The gym and coaches are amazing and there to support you on whatever journey you are on. You won’t regret it!”
