If you’ve been curious about CrossFit but feel unsure about what actually happens in a class, you’re not alone. This guide walks you through a typical class at CrossFit Influence so you know exactly what to expect before you ever step inside.
Walking In
During the winter months, you’ll enter through our main door. In the summer, when the garage doors are open, you can come straight in that way.
Your first stop is the iPad on the counter to check in. We’ll show you how on your first visit. After that, head to the athlete area to put your things away. We have cubbies, shelves, and hooks available.
Simple, straightforward, and no guessing where to go.
How Classes Are Structured
Our classes are one hour long and fully coach-led. Every class follows a familiar flow so you always know what’s coming.
The Whiteboard Brief
We start together at the whiteboard. Your coach explains the workout, what the goal is for the day, and how it should feel. You’ll also hear all the scaling options so the workout matches your current ability.
Everyone starts with the same understanding of the plan.
General Warm-Up
Next, we warm up the body and get moving. This is relaxed and social. People chat, music is on, and everyone eases into the session while preparing joints and muscles for the work ahead.
Specific Warm-Up and Progressions
This is where we prepare for the actual movements in the workout. If the workout includes thrusters, for example, we break them down into manageable steps like squatting mechanics and pressing mechanics before putting it all together.
Your coach demonstrates modifications and progressions so everyone can move safely and confidently, whether that means using a PVC pipe, lighter weights, or a barbell.
The Workout
This is the working portion of class. Music gets louder, focus increases, and everyone moves at their own pace.
Your coach stays active on the floor, offering cues, corrections, and encouragement. Some athletes are lifting heavy, some are scaling movements, and everyone is being challenged appropriately.
Skill Work on Certain Days
On some days, we include dedicated skill work. This could mean practicing pull-ups, double-unders, or another movement you want to improve. It’s optional, but it’s a great opportunity to build confidence and ability.
Cool Down
We finish together with stretching and breathing. This is when conversations pick back up and members reflect on how the workout felt.
Coaching During Class
You are never left on your own. Coaches are attentive and engaged from start to finish. If something looks off, you’ll receive feedback. If you’re doing something well, you’ll hear that too.
The goal is progress, not perfection.
What If You’re New or Out of Shape?
Before joining group classes, everyone completes four one-on-one on-ramp sessions. These sessions teach foundational movements, gym flow, and proper technique so you feel prepared and confident.
When you join your first class, we introduce you at the whiteboard. Our community is genuinely welcoming and quick to learn names and make connections.
The Overall Vibe
Warm-ups, skill work, and cooldowns are social and relaxed. Workouts are focused and energetic. Coaches encourage, music is loud, and effort is high.
What you will not find is judgment.
Zero Judgment, Full Support
Every workout is scalable, and every athlete is respected. Some members are doing advanced movements, others are building fundamentals. Everyone belongs here and everyone is working toward their own goals.
You are competing only with yourself, and our coaches help guide that progress.
What Makes CrossFit Influence Different
We believe improvement looks different for everyone. Our coaches are present, invested, and committed to helping members move better, feel stronger, and stay consistent.
Our community supports each other, celebrates progress, and shows up together.
